There’s nothing better on a dreary Tuesday night than catching live music. Olde Mother Brewing Co. hosts Artist Showcases every Tuesday 7-9 PM. I had yet to experience Olde Mother on a night that wasn’t crazy busy – It turned out to be a super enjoyable and cozy experience.
Wally Worsley – Worsley’s songwriting style shows roots in early 90s rock – take for example Soul Asylum or Gin Blossoms, the latter of which he covered in “Hey Jealousy”…it was great! Butch Walker was also covered and introduced as one of his favorite songsmiths. Worsley’s sound is dominated by luscious acoustic guitar pushed forward by thick chords and a touch of reverb – His voice is right at the end of midrange and on the edge of higher pitched; perfectly controlled in volume and through each song, never overdone and always in just the right tone/pitch. The songs are all sincere and straightforward with melodies of the songs are accessible to a wide range of music fans in any of the rock subgenres. When you mix a talented singer songwriter with a proficient guitarist who plays interesting chord structures and finger picked parts, you get a very enjoyable live performance.
