Sourpuss/The Drivin’ Beats @ Sky Stage – July 20, 2019

The second installment of third Saturday punk shows hosted by Exploring Frederick’s Underground at Sky Stage delivered yet again. If you’re not already familiar with Exploring Frederick’s Underground, check out their page – essentially they are working to archive a lot of classic Frederick music/bands/art. Two more third Saturday shows are happening:

August 17th – Trigger Thirteen, The Hellgrammites

September 21st – Thrillsville, Killers From Space, Garage Sale feat. Skizz Cyzyk from Baltimore

On this particularly hot Saturday night Sky Stage was still packed with music fans and punk bands who wouldn’t sacrifice their style (jeans and long sleeves) to cool off from the sun.

Sourpuss – Ferocious punk with a classic feel. Yelly/angsty vocals are in the forefront as a tight rhythm section keeps things going at a quick pace and two guitars (one playing solid bar chords and the other playing explosive leads) drive with the perfect distorted tone.

The Drivin Beats – Garage rock vibes with some influence from punk and 60s/70s acts like MC5. Distorted microphones provide that edgy vocal feel, simple solidified guitar is always right in time with the heavy hitting drums and upbeat pulsing bass completes the picture.
