“Another Round” (Single Review) – Michelle Hannan & One Blue Night

“Another Round” is a recently released single from Frederick band Michelle Hannan & One Blue Night. The group has been around since 2014 and play around a good bit. Check out a review of the latest single below and their Frederick one take performance here.

“Another Round” – Classic country influence transformed into a very fresh sounding approach. A delightful lead guitar part begins the track as pedal steel breezes on, clean acoustic guitar strums and light dampened drumming wanders along. The voices that top everything off are Michelle Hannan’s – one that’s simply soothing with an incredibly bright and clear tone along with backing vocals that deliver harmonies to complete the soundscape. Lyrically the song focuses on the heartbreak of an ended relationship and drinking a lot of alcohol to cope with the pain.. “You didn’t only break my heart, you hurt my liver too – for now I think I’ll have another round – another round, it’s the same thing every night – I hate to do this to myself but you should have done me right.” What’s most enjoyable is the homage to 70s acts such as Loretta Lynn or Dolly Parton and the band’s ability to create a song like “Another Round” that sounds like it could’ve been played on the radio alongside them.
